Mozart: The Genius with a Mysterious Farewell
Skygaze explores the brilliance, secrecy, and strange final days of one of music's greatest prodigies
A Child of Musical Fire
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his first pieces at age five and toured the courts of Europe by age six. By adulthood, he had written over 600 works across every major musical genre of his time.
The Phantom Commission
Shortly before his death, Mozart was visited by a mysterious stranger who commissioned a Requiem Mass. Mozart reportedly came to believe he was writing it for himself. The man was later revealed to be an agent of Count Franz von Walsegg, who planned to pass the work off as his own.
Untimely and Unclear
Mozart died at 35 under uncertain circumstances. Theories range from poisoning by rival composer Salieri to rheumatic fever or kidney disease. No autopsy was performed, and he was buried in an unmarked grave as was customary for the time.
Echoes of the Eternal
Mozart's unfinished Requiem was completed by his student Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Despite its mysterious origins, it remains one of the most haunting and revered pieces of music ever written - a final note in a short but blazing life.
